Social Activities

Highfield House places a premium on variety and independent choice of activity.

Residents live as independently as possible at Highfield House, through excellent risk management.

We are proud to employ two professional wellbeing and activity co-ordinators who engage the residents in a wide and entertaining choice of group and individual activities. Our coordinators organise a varied year round programme and we develop an activity profile for each resident, which helps to engage him or her in exercises, games and entertainment.

Care Home Activities

Lifestyle

In addition to our activity programme, residents enjoy regular visits from a chiropodist, dentist, masseuse and optician, and a hairdresser takes appointments. This list can be added to upon request.

Activities are supervised and we make notes to ensure programme effectiveness. Furthermore; We ensure that furnishings, fixtures and fittings cater for residents with dementia, so large pictures, seating and magazines feature throughout our home

Highfield Gardens

An Open Visiting Policy

We encourage residents to maintain their social networks and everyone is encouraged to eat in the dining areas, unless they are unwell.

Relatives are welcome to dine with their relatives and many residents choose to receive visitors in their room for tea.

Attractive and bespoke garden

Our garden was designed by the Stirling University Department for Dementia Care with the help of one of our directors.

The garden has a winding path, colourful plants and places to sit and relax. Special features include paths, bird tables, sculptures and a wealth of different plants, shrubs and trees that attract wildlife. We welcome everyone’s help whatever their level of experience – we understand that many active gardeners will have left their lovingly tended gardens. We encourage people to offer advice and share knowledge so that they become an important part of their new natural surroundings!

We also have a lovely large lawn area, in which residents regularly enjoy chatting and relaxing.

To sum up, flexibility is key. However, each resident can summon help whenever needed. Residents are able to access their care record at any time and when residents need support (e.g. advocates, advisors or dentist) we arrange this straightaway.
